openfc-player-2-controller
OpenFC Player 2 Controller

This a reproduction of the Player 2 controller for the Red & White Famicom; it is also compatible with NES systems.

These boards are primarily intended for repairing systems that have been damaged by acid leaks from failed capacitors, humidity, flooding, spilled liquids, or failed mod attempts. However it can also be used to build a customized machine (in this case though, please consider rescuing a beat up unit as part of your build).

This board is a faithful reproduction of the Player 2 controller with minimal changes to support ENIG finish. To replace carbon printed resistors, 40kOhm through hole resistors are necessary.

DISCLAIMER / COMPATIBILITY NOTES: Building a controller with third party parts almost always requires tuning for micro-tolerance issues.

All parts (boards, shells, rubber pads, buttons, etc) have tolerance ranges that may not overlap cleanly in all combinations. Even a small 0.1mm gap resulting from tolerance clashes between parts can reduce sensitivity, specifically on diagonals on the d-pads or the shoulder buttons.

Please note, these issues happen on the stock boards too, this is why 3rd party silicone pads are notorious for stiff diagonals. As these boards are 1:1 replicas of stock, the same thing happens to them. Stock pads that are torn or worn down may also malfunction. Worn pads can be tuned. Torn pads generally need replaced.

Fortunately this is extremely easy to tune to your desired set of parts, so a full guide is covered in the documentation, along with links to known possible parts. Please have a look over the guidelines in the documentation below before purchasing.

If you would like to see available schematics and board-views, please check the source repository here: github.com/starlightk7/OpenFC

The product documentation can be found here: starlightk7.github.io/OpenFC

Join the discussion on Discord here: discord.gg/DjXvPDA6Vv

Please note: This product requires basic soldering and desoldering skills along with appropriate tools.
